Presentation Template vs. Java
demack
I am in the process of converting a website to CMS. The home page has daily articles (the first day that the article is published, there is a short paragraph posted on the home page - the second day that the article is published, there is only a link to the article on the home page). Right now we handle this using our own home-grown Java solution - but since we are converting to CMS we would like to convert this too.
My question has to do with presentation. The home page will continue to be written in Java (WebSphere) and we plan to use CMS to input the articles to the database. Is it better to use CMS ONLY to input the data, but use Java to output the data on the home page (not use a presentation template)?
Also, at this stage we are not sure if we are going to convert the back-end database to CMS (it is a SQL database) or keep the database. Any suggestions?

you might keep the database, but use custom schemas to deploy data from DCRs using Data Deploy and still continue rendering your pages using JSPs... or whatever

Hi,
I think better option will be to use presentation template for generating the article(html) and using JSP:Include display on your site.
if you don't want to publish the generated html to web server deployee your generated article link on db-server and use that.
it will make easier of displaying content and will provide you greater flexibility.
if letter on it's require to change the format of article, it will be easier.
