6.5 Search & Event Subsystem
DavidMusser
In the installation guid it says to :
"Select the type of database used by the event subsystem. If you select default, the
event subsystem will store event information in a flat file rather than in a database."
WIll Search work for incremental updates if you select the flat file option? Or do you have to have a DataBase for
events.
Take care
David.

Yes incremental updates is not linked to the event subsystem and it should work. But if you use flatfile database it will consume a lot of space and IWOV recomends to use a RDBMS database for eventsubsystem. Check this thread

Using the default option for the eventsubsystem does have an impact on the scalability of the OpenJMS server. Using an RDBMS is the recommended approach. We have also added support for MySQL if do not have Oracle, SQL Server or DB2. Please refer to the published KB article (KB 53407) on how to set up the event subsystem for MySQL.

Thanks for the link on the kb article. I now have it working with MySql... Are there any best practices on how to configure the mysql for ts. i.e. number of users? would it just be 1? tune for transaction or just take the default install?
Take care
David.

Unless the system is extremely active where you are publishing events very frequently, I would think that the default options should be fine.. The database for the event subsystem is needed only to persist the events in case you shut down your subscribers (the Index Manager) or the Reporting module. In typical cases where the events are being consumed as and when they are generated, those events should get cleaned up from the event subsystem database keeping the size of the database fairly small.
