automate submit job
lm489
I have a reqt for creating a task which will automatically run every week and submit the files in a directory of the teamsite workarea, user does not want to manually submit these files or through any workflow, please let me know if any one have done something similar or any suggestions.
OS ------- TS 5.5.2 on windows 2000

I think the idea of doing this is mis-guided as it means that any modification will be submitted without necessarily being *ready* to be submitted - however, it's certainly possible.
If there's no workflow involved - all it requires is running iwsubmit with the workarea vpath and a comment.
I'd suggest using the '-r' flag to capture the list of files that were submitted and at the very least store the information away somewhere - better would probably be to have it go into email that is sent to at least one person.

I agree with fish that the idea is a little off.
But like he said, you can either use Windows Scheduler or OpenDeploy DNR (deploying a temp file) to execute the iwsubmit command.

Can you do this ? Easily. Should you do this ? doubtful
Yes, iwat running iwsubmit will work. In a perfect world it can work. However there are a number
of senerios where you will end up shooting yourself in the foot.
This is why consultants sometimes do earn there keep. THis is a half-baked idea from users.
Someone needs to sit with the users & see what theya re really trying to do & design a
reasonable system.
Can they use front office ?

RTFM
drag and drop content into TS. It will ask to submit, click yes & you are done
That is a reasonable approach for even the most Smitty-like users.
