iwxml_validate.ipl question

System

Hello Everyone,
I am working on Teamsie 5.0.1 on Win2000 OS, i am trying to run my iwxml_validate.tpl command to check the validity of the templaitng.cfg file and my presentation template file *.tpl. Well when i am doing it from the Y:/main/workarea/> its giving me an error saying that it can't recognize the command, so i go to bin directory under my iw-home, this will still pose me errors saying that this command is not executable. can you please suggest me why its doing this? I have done the validation using the right CLT i guess. Please suggest.
thank you

Did you try giving the full path to that command? In your case some thing like:
Y:/main/workarea/>C:\iw-home\bin\iwxml_validata.ipl
Also its iwxml_validate.ipl not .tpl

I'm sure it was a typo, but just wanted to first make sure that you're trying to use "iwxml_validate.ipl" and not "iwxml_validate.tpl".

Are you attempting to run it as #1 or #2, below:

1. <iw-home>/iw-perl/bin/iwperl <iw-home>/bin/iwxml_validate.ipl [arguments]
2. <iw-home>/bin/iwxml_validate.ipl [arguments]

Well, it's iwxml_validate.ipl, not iwxml_validate.tpl. But, in addition to that, I'm not sure which version of TeamSite introduced this CLT. It might not even be available in TS 5.0.

You can look in IW-Home/private/bin for iwxmlval.exe, which will check the well-formed-ness of an XML file.

Hello dave,
i am sorry that was a typo while posting i tried *.ipl not *.tpl, but still it gives me error, I have tried it from bin folder and also frm Y drive, either case it doesn't seem to work. Here i used (2) as mentioned by you
thank you

As Dwayne suggested you can check if the file iwxml_validate.ipl exists in the iwhome\bin directory.

That's a problem... you will need to call the script as #1, above. It's not inherently executable (as it might be on a Unix system), so call it from the command line using an explicit call to the Perl interpreter.

Hello Dwayne,
I have checked my bin folder, the command is there, but its not executing.

Hello Dave,
I have done as suggested by you, its not identifying the file, It says "ERROR: No such file or directory"

c:\Program Files\Interwoven\Teamsite\iw-perl>iwxml_validate.ipl myfile.xml

this is my CLT please suggest any changes to be made to this.
thank You

Dwayne

You misunderstood what dave was saying. Try this from the command line:

"c:\Program Files\Interwoven\Teamsite\iw-perl\bin\iwperl.exe" "c:\Program Files\Interwoven\Teamsite\bin\iwxml_validate.ipl" myfile.xml

BTW - you'll probably end up with difficulties further on down the road, having installed TeamSite in c:\Program Files\Interwoven\Teamsite. That space in the path can lead to problems with custom code, etc, if you're not careful. Yes, I know it's the default path. I've no idea why Interwoven never changed it.

Yeah, I totally agree with Dwayne in that you'll likely have problems with iw-home located underneath "Program Files". Admittedly, I had installed TS on a W2K3 box in the "default" location (man, I wish they would fix it so that it wouldn't default to that directory) and had many problems. In short, I had to reinstall it at C:\iw-home.
