Job description in the tasks list

System

Hi All,
In CCP, under the workflow tab in the task list window, the Job Description column wasn't showing up. I finally got the column to display, but each row for that column just shows "null HTML found for object". I have no idea what is causing this. Anyone else have this problem.

TIA,
Mukesh

p.s. we upgraded from TS 5.5.2 to TS 6.1 on windows and so our wft's were orignally developed under 5.5.2

I see the Job Description in the lower frame of the screen in the Tasks view, which shows details about the highlighted task in the upper frame - but not in the upper frame where it's all about the task. I have no problem with this view. I suppose if you wanted to add a Job description into the upper frame as one of the columns, you could, but that takes up valuable real estate.

The problem is that our users may have many tasks in their task list and they would like to see which job the task is associated with at a glance, instead of clicking on each of the tasks and looking at the bottom frame to see the job description. I added the job description in the upper frame but I get the error message in my first post.

Any ideas why I'm getting that error?

Mukesh

No idea why you're getting the error - would it be at all useful to just show the Job ID instead of the description? Job descriptions can get pretty verbose and you may still not see enough info to be sure which job it is. Job ID is at least a fixed length field and will always be clear. Maybe not clear enough that you wouldn't have to keep flipping back and forth between the views, though.

I think the jobID might work, Do you have an example of adding that? I think there maybe something in the CCUI documentation

Thanks,

tik

please post the solution as I am facing the same problem in 6.

I'm still looking for a resolution to this problem. If I find it outside of devnet, I'll post it.

Thanks,

If you are in the task view I don't think there is anyway of directly displaying the job description.

It would be really good if you could.

You can only access the bean properties of the CSTask class.

So a workaround would be setting a standard that all tasks in your workflow have a task variable that contains the job description. It might sound a little messy but if you set it as a standard practice it really isnt all that much work, especially if you are usin TeamSite::WFConstructor to build your job.

Once you have that you can display the task variable in the standard way

IE
in workflow_custom.xml you would have a similar entry

 <pagedlist id="iw.ccpro.task_list.pagedlist" >
        <iwov-insert-after id="description">
            <column id="custom.job.description"
                    label="Job Description"
                    description="Job Description"
                    type="string"
                    property="variable(job.description)"
                    width="14%"
                    align="middle" />
        </iwov-insert-after>

        <!-- Decrease the width of the Description column to make room for
             the new column -->
        <column id="description" width="14%" />

 </pagedlist>

job.description would be the key name of the task variable you declared with the job description as the value.

This has been off the top of my head, so I may have got something wrong

I made a mistake, the config to change is ui_custom.xml

You will also need to play around with the widths of the other fields to get it all right.
