iwproxy - backreferencing regex's?

I've got a proxy situation where we'd like to consolidate about a dozen regexes into one - but the only thing stopping us is what appears to be the lack of back-reference (?) functionality in the proxy regex processing. Can anyone verify if I am correct in assuming that this doesn't exist in the current system (6.1SP1 / Solaris) or am I just using the wrong syntax?

The regex would be something like this:

_regex=^(/iw-mount/default/main/xyz/co/([^/]+)/WORKAREA/workarea)/co/\2/(.*)=$1/$3

Where the sub-branch name that occurs directly before /WORKAREA/ would also be the sub-directory name that appears elsewhere in the pattern portion of the regex.

The above works as desired on the Support site's regex mapper tool - but doesn't seem to work in practice on our server.

Is just the wrong syntax for iwproxy?

I'm in the process of filing a FR for this, but figured I'd check here too.

I am not sure if this helps but here's the approach we followed in a similar situation. The regex mapping in /etc/iw.cfg points to a .cgi program in $IWHOME/iw-bin. The .cgi does the rest of processing and redirection by getting the value from $ENV{HTTP_X_TEAMSITE_PREREMAP}

I've not tried to use back references in proxy regex's before, so I don't know if it's "supposed" to work or not. As an experiment, I'd probably try using two \ characters, in case they've added some esape processing in before the actual regex processing.

_regex=^(/iw-mount/default/main/xyz/co/([^/]+)/WORKAREA/workarea)/co/

Actually, no. The $n stuff is only valid after the regex has matched. The \n construct is for allowing the regex to match back to an earlier point in the regex, to determine if it matches

I know, I was looking at two regex's at once and didn't look carefully enough at the post

and quickly deleted my post upon realizing what I had done. I'm a big fan of a tool called "The Regex Coach" -- does anyone else use it or know of it?

Hmm - interesting idea - using a double (or even tripple) back-slash. I may try that out tomorrow.

In the meantime, we've filed FR# 56461 : Allow iwproxy to recognize back-references in regex.

Hi,

I have tried the same before on a TS5.5.2 but could get it to work even though my regex validated OK on the Validator.

So I assume it just don't work.
