spanish langage characters

we are trying to capture spanish words as metadata -
cutting and pasting from a MS Word doc into mtmetaproxy -
the spanish characters are being garbled. Any idea
on how to keep that from happening?

(TS is on Solaris)

Sounds like there is a page encoding issue. What version of TeamSite & MetaTagger?
