Teamsite forms pub icon images in DCTs
frogman
Hi,
We use a DCT to allow our users to define a navigation structure. This structure can go to a depth of four levels. At present there are 11 top levels, each with 10+ second level containers, and at least 10 third and fourth level containers. This means that when the form is loaded for editing it has to download in excess of 800 images for the UI icons and elements. I have tried adding preload Javascript to the DCT but it does not seem to have any effect. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

What are these 800 images?
I would think that there would be only a small number of images (e.g., 4: 'v', '^', '+', 'X') for each replicant and that once each image has been downloaded once the rendering of each subsequent image would take place via the cache rather than being re-downloaded.
Also - if you're using 6.5 (you didn't say what version you were using) I believe you can specify that replicants start in 'collapsed' mode rather than 'expanded' mode (or something like that) which should help to speed up initial rendering by putting off the rendering of the replicant buttons until you expand each level of replicant.

Check out the following kb article on the Interwoven support site, it tells you how to configure mod_expires within iw-webd to dramatically improve performance for loading of the static content.

Hi Hjin,
Many thanks for this. A very useful patch. It certainly did the trick.
Cheers
