Hi,

I have question about templating.cfg configuration

In below templatedata category i have data types . Is there any limit or i can have n number of data types?

when i say new datarecord templatedata will show once i click on that i will get dall data-types . But some times i am getting error invalid category selection

<category name="templatedata">
<locations>
<branch vpath-regex="Ibm.*" />
</locations>
<data-type name="Promotions" dcr-type="iwov"/>
<data-type name="News" dcr-type="iwov"/>
<data-type name="SampleImage" dcr-type="iwov"/>
<data-type name="Advertisement" dcr-type="iwov"/>
<data-type name="AdvantageTechIndex" dcr-type="iwov"/>
<data-type name="AdvantageModelIndex" dcr-type="iwov"/>
<data-type name="AdvantageCatIndex" dcr-type="iwov"/>
<data-type name="AdvantageDetail" dcr-type="iwov"/>
<data-type name="Review" dcr-type="iwov"/>
<data-type name="ProductFinder" dcr-type="iwov"/>
<data-type name="Award" dcr-type="iwov"/>
<data-type name="Logos" dcr-type="iwov"/>

I haven't quite seen a configuration like that, but what does the directory architecture look like underneath your lbm sub-branch?

Dave

We have like this

Branch

Workarea

templatedata

datatype-1
datatype-2
datatype-3
-
-
datatype-n

Thanx for your reply

I wouldn't change your templating.cfg, but your directory structure is off.

See the example below -- it's fairly vanilla:

<category name="content">
   <locations>
      ...
   </locations>
   <data-type name="press-release"/>
   <data-type name="intranet"/>
</category>

The directory structure for this example would look something like this:

Sub-branch
   WORKAREA
      templatedata
         content
            intranet
            press-release
         (CATEGORY 2)
         (CATEGORY 3)
...

Thanx for your quick reply

In your structre if i have another 100 data types under content for exmaples pressrelease etc .Is there any limitaion on that.

Based on your structure when we click on content it will show all data types define underneath that right

Q: In your structre if i have another 100 data types under content for exmaples pressrelease etc .Is there any limitaion on that.

A: No, not at all. Although, you may notice a bit of performance degradation, but that's to be expected.

Q: Based on your structure when we click on content it will show all data types define underneath that right

A: Yes, really only directories should be immediately underneath "content" and those would be the data-types.

Thanx for your reply.I am seeing performacne problem if i have more data types underneather that. Some times i am getting error if i click on content invalid category selection

I'm not sure I understand... did you make changes to either templating.cfg or your directory structure and you're still getting the same error?

Dave

In your suggestion we have like this

Sub-branch

WORKAREA
templatedata
content
intranet
press-release

I followed the same way in my config and even directory structure .Under that content i have a few it is ok i have more performance is slow

Thanx once again

Okay, there are many KB's written about performance and what's likely happening here is it's parsing through the possibly very, very long templating.cfg file but it can also be attributed to the number of active tasks / workflows, the size of your backing store, etc., etc.

Thank you very much your replies i will check KB's
