Submit of DCR

WHen a user submits a file generated using a template, we would like the associated DCR to also be submitted automatically. Has anyone implemented functionality like this? If so, how? Thanks!

This question has been raised repeatedly in DevNet. The short answer is that you can use an external task that looks at the extended attributes of the submitted files to look for an associated DCR, and then attach the associated DCR to the external task. Please search the Workflow forum for the details.

I have heard that in TS 6.x CCStd, if you edit a DCR, generate a file and submit (using the Wizards) it will attach both the DCR and generated file to the workflow.

Can somebody confirm this ? (unfortunately I don't have access to a 6.x system at the moment)

yes, I can confirm this. It works only in CC STD, in the Wizard.

However, there are a few drawbacks to this aproach:

- DCR is automatically sent to the tagging step (if it's enabled) - so one has to filter out DCRs, as I don't see much value in tagiing (some people might like it, though)

- you will still need to have the external task that attaches a DCR, if you use the same workflow for both CC PRO and CC STD users.
