online FormAPI reference in TS 6.5
Johnny
I'm just double checking our installation.
Our fresh install of TS 6.5 seems to only contain the online help for Presentation Templates (/iw/help/tst/pt/) and not FormAPI.
I found this much easier than viewing a PDF... has it disappeared?.. or did something go wrong with our installation?
Thanks
John Cuiuli

It's gone - they apparently weren't keeping the on-line files up to date and decided that it would be better to have you look through the separate FormAPI manual.

I figured as much.
Thanks for the update.

The old HTML files were removed because they were not updated. The FormAPI manual is available in PDF from the install package and is available in HTML format on the Interwoven Support site.

Maybe IWOV should look into buying a content management system to help them keep the html docs up to date?

Maybe i'm just baiting you, but when the manuals are updated, they are included in the release packaging (e.g. on support for download) and on the CDs at the fulfillment house.
The HTML format of the manuals (for online browsing) are on support in addition to the pdfs.
If you want to order a manual in print form, you can do that as well.

Lissa,
The point (subtle or not) here is that IWOV *used* to provide HTML versions of the FormAPI manual on the TeamSite server such that it could be easily accessed by anyone using
http://tsserver/iw/help/tst/formapi
(like all the PT stuff that/s in
http://tsserver/iw/help/tst/pt
). We are now being told that the information is only available in the PDF manual *or* as HTML pages on the support site (where you have to login).
If Support can have the up-to-date HTML pages, then it means someone is maintaining them - and if so - they should be able to be distributed with patches / service packs to customers who can then make them available to all their various developers.
True - the PDF manuals can be shared - but the HTML was a bit lighter-weight and accessible to everyone (without needing a support login)
If the HTML pages on Support aren't being maintained in sync with the PDF documentation - then the issue [joke] is that IWOV should be using some sort of CM system to help maintain the HTML versions of the FormAPI documents so that they can be shipped with the product. (or something like that).

The HTML versions lag the pdfs, but they are maintained.
....I know the html versions used to ship with the product. In a former life I was part of the team that made that happen.
If people would like the html versions on the CD, they should file an enhancement request.
Thanks for the clarification, the subtlety was definitely lost on me.
