form API init function

I was just trying to dynamically input an option into my dct ( add an option) and i have this javascript for the same. can any one please tell me where i am wrong, cuz it seems like my function init is getting called but later its not doing any thing, except that it pops the alert in the beginning of the function. here is the entire javascript


alert ("hello");
IWEventRegistry.addFormHandler("onFormInit", init);
function init() {
alert ('You there');
debugger;
item = IWDatacapture.getItem("/Language");
debugger;
newOption = new Option("Latin", "Latin", false, false);
debugger;
item.addOption(newOption);
}

Please let me know ASAP

FYI - I resolved it. "Item is not liked by Interwoven" Used "myitem" instead
