Permissions: Users can't see workarea
Anip
Teamsite 6.1 - Windows
Hi all,
We're having an issue with permissions. We have a workarea which is shared by a business area and a couple of admin people totalling 8 users. For some reason 2 of these users can't see the shared workarea when they log into Teamsite where as the rest of us can.
The branch is owned by administrator and shared with a parent group for all teamsite users and both the 'problem users' are members. The workarea is also owned by administrator and is shared with the business area group - all 8 users mentioned are members. These users are all members of local groups on the teamsite box (they will eventually be members of an AD group which will itself be a member of the local group but for now I've just added them to the local group).
In iw.cfg branch_security is on and workarea_security is on, to ensure users only see what they have permissions on:
The users are all in the relevant uid files fine and are being authenticated into Teamsite without problem.
I just can't understand what's different for these 2 particular users as to why they can't see the workarea?
Has anyone got any suggestions, or even a checklist for permissions?
cheers
Ani

Ani,
I have experienced similar issues with permissions. This is what I've done to verify that everything is correct. Some of my suggestions may be "totally off the wall" but what you have is "off the wall" too.
1) Reboot the server
- in older versions of TS there was an issue with losing connectivity with the security controller on the domain. This manifested itself by three (exactly three) users losing access. The other 100 were fine. Rebooting fixed it.
2) double/triple check that the users are in the right groups.
- at a DOS prompt type: net user <username> /DOMAIN
3) Check to make sure that all the folders from the root level on the drive are setup so they have access (I would expect that this is correct since others can see it, but I wonder if those other users are in other groups that have access. Is it possible a different group that the other users are in has access)
- To list the permissions on each folder, at a DOS prompt type: cacls <folder name>
4) can these people see theses files if they map the iwserver share?
