upgarde from OD 5.5.1 to OD 5.6
ijpn
Hello,
i would like to have some feedback about
upgrading Open Deploy from 5.5.1 to 5.6 sp1 + hotfix
Such as problem faced, performance issue. config changes errors etc.
(any info which might be useful for novice)
BTW , Its an windows 2000 server and Team site 5.2 is running on the same machine .
I may have to connect the this OD 5.6 with another OD 5.1 later
Thanks in advance.
PS: Manual says, its straight forward upgrade?

I don't believe there are any configuration changes needed for the upgrade - the main issue is that you need to upgrade all your BaseServer's first, and then upgrade the Receivers.
If memory serves correctly - 5.6 was mostly enhancements to the existing product and did not require any changes to the config files. There were some additional features offered by the server configuration files for support of features in the Admin GUI (like the reporting db) and the introduction of the iwodcmd CLT (to essentially replace all previous CLTs - but they still exist).
OD6 introduces changes to the configuration files, but is backwards compatible with pre-existing 5.x configuration files - so the changes can be made gradually.

Hello,
Thanks ghoti (I like your quick and meaningful reply!)
One more doubt w.r.to Open Deploy 5.6 (Upgrade from OD 5.5.1)
In the "Release 5.6 Service Pack Version 1" Document's System Requirement (Page 6/64)
[This service pack software is supported on all operating systems certified to run
Open Deploy 5.6. In addition, as of this service pack, the following additional operating
systems are certified to run Open Deploy:
Windows 2000 SP3]
What about SP4 ?
Even after the release of SP4, there are 30+ hot fixes for the windows 2000.
OD 5.6. is tested well with SP4+Pacthes also.
Thanks in Advance

Check with Support regarding platforms supported for the various products.
OpenDeploy generally has less problems with Windows service packs than TeamSite, so it might work even if not officially supported.
