What version of TeamSite, including service pack levels? Is this a new installation, or an update? If it used to work, did something change?
Any information like this would be helpful.

hye,
informations that u asked r below...
i am using teamsite 5.0.1, it is not a new installation nor an update. it worked this morning perfectly before my friend changed something in either available_templates.ipl or iwwft_available.ipl unintentionaly.
i am sending u error.log. if u need then i can send u server.log , events.log and trace.log.
i hope it'll help u.

Hi,
what's on line 48 in the iwwft_available.ipl file?
Do you have an old version of iwwft_available.ipl and available_templates.ipl which you can compare?
Is this on the production or the test server, and does it work correctly on one of them?
Regards,
Eldbjoerg
madmax
i compare both available_templates.ipl with it's old version and iwwft_available.ipl with it's old version --- they both r same . and it's not working on either server.
iwovGraduate
what's on line 48 in the iwwft_available.ipl file?
Can you post that file ?
madmax
here is the file iwwft_available.ipl .
if u roll down then look carefully on right side then u'll see the line 48 that i've marked . hope this'll help me and u.

# Use Using the configuration function:

# iw-home/local/config/wft/available_templates.ipl
#
# this clt retuns a list of template files that are available
# with respect to a given user, role, vpath, command [,post_command]

# Inside available_templates.ipl, file lists are specified like this:
#
# return [ "foo.wft",

# [ file => "examples/conflict_submit.wft",
# name => 'Submit Workflow',
# ],
# "whatever.wft",

# If the [file =>...,name=> ...] pairs are not used, then the

# o The character '_' is transformed into ' '
# o Each space-delimited word is capitalized
# o The .wft extention is stripped

Hi,
I tested your iwwft_available.ipl on my server, and it works fine, which means the error probably is in the available_templates.ipl. Could you attach that one as well, then I'll take a look at it.

I'm only using available_templates.ipl and not the available_templates.cfg which is called from your ipl file, so I can't test this for you. However, I compared your cfg file to the original cfg file which was installed on the server, and only found a difference on line 53/54:
Original file:
# Filter out the CDATA nodes and the simple XML comments
@nodes
= grep { $_->type() ne 'CDATA' && $_->type() ne 'XML_COMMENT' }
@nodes
;
Your file:
# Filter out the CDATA nodes
@nodes
= grep { $_->type() ne 'CDATA' }
@nodes
;
I have no idea if this 'XML_COMMENT' is of any importance.
Could your colleague have changed something in the available_templates.cfg file, or perhaps in templating.cfg?
Also check the permissions for these files.
I'm sorry I can't help you out more. Would probably be easier for somebody with the same version.

The XML_COMMENT is important if someone tried to put XML style comments in the available_templates.cfg file (e.g.: <!-- some comment -->)

thanks ela.
can u send me u'rs available_template.cfg & available_templates.ipl that'll be a great help for me to comparing files and i am pretty much sure my colleague erased some data. i am using teamsite 5.0.1 and i guess u,r using upgraded version of 5.0.1. plz let me know u'r version also .
thanks
madmax
hyee ela,
i tried with u'r suggested changing but still it's not working , i guess something wrong with the available_templates.cfg. so if u can send me a copy that'll be nice.
thanks
Adam Stoller
Looking at someone else's available_templates.cfg probably won't help you that much - as that is a site-customized file - you might be able to get the same basic value out of IWHOME/local/config/wft/available_templates.cfg.example (assuming there is one on your server).
If you post *your* available_templates.cfg file (preferably as an attachment rather than in-line) we could take a look at see if we find anything suspicious in it.

thanks a lot.
i am sending as attachment. by the way i also compared available_templates.cfg with available_templates.cfg.example and they r same.
Adam Stoller
It looks fine, and you say it's the same as the .example file so I don't think the problem is here.
Looking back at the original post (and the subject for the thread) I think we may have gotten off on a tangent here.
The original problem was trying to create a new data record *not* creating a new workflow.
In addition, judging from the error message in the original post - there was an attempt to use the Java Templating UI (not only is 5.0x EOL - but Java Templating is also EOL).
If the issue is templating - it's not available_templates.{ipl,cfg} that is likely to be the culprit - it's more likely to be IWHOME/local/config/templating.cfg ... but even then I'm not sure if an error in the templating.cfg file would be the source of the java error you originally posted - but I'd suggest at least taking a look at your templating.cfg file first.

i compared that templating.cfg with templating.cfg.example and they r identical.
and i tried with braowser ui for new data record still i am getting same error.

Has templating ever worked on this system ? I would try reinstalling it.
madmax
reinstalling is my last option , it worked before this error occured.

Perhaps you can find ALL files that were changed within IWHOME since a known-date when everything was working?
That might help zero-in on what changed.
You also might have to look at the files within the templatedata directories of the branches where you are able to reproduce this problem (I don't recall asking / seeing the information - but does this problem affect all templates in all branches? my guess is "yes" - but it's still worth asking).

Does the error message come immediately after choosing New Data Record from the File menu, or do you first get the template selection? Can you open/edit existing DCRs?
madmax
the error comes when i chose "new data record" from the file menu, no other windows pops up except the error page.

But can you do other things, like open/edit an existing file, preview, start a workflow?
In one of your former posts you wrote:
"i compared that templating.cfg with templating.cfg.example and they r identical."
. How can that be? I mean, do you use exactly the same structure, category names etc. as in the example?
I would also do what Fish suggests, check which files have been modified after it last worked.
