Modifiy a External Attribute in a branch

Hi folks,
I want to modify an External Attribute on my workareas with my branch and submit the modified files to STAGING.To clear the situation, below is the scenario A

TeamSite/Metadata/X=Value

I want to change this to new value as scenario B

TeamSite/Metadata/X=NewValue

The modification needs to be done wherever the file had a metadata similiar to scenario B.

Please let me know your thoughts to this as i am looking for the proper approach.

You can use the iwextattr CLT (command-line tool) to set or get the value of an external attribute. See the command line tool manual for details.

You can also access external attributes using the ContentServices API.

Thanks Brinko for suggestion, but i was looking for a script/tool , that will mofify the external attribute for the (metadata i mentioned in my post )entire branch and their workareas using the "iwextattr" CLT as you mentioned.

If nothing is available as yet. i will give it a shot.

Check the scripts section (https://support.interwoven.com/tools/scripts/scripts.asp) for RecreateBranch.zip file. It contains two scripts for getting and setting extended attributes. You can check the scripts provided and see if they are helpful and can be modified for your requirements to modify attributes for entire branch.
