Customize TS 6.5 Advanced Search

System

The TeamSite 6.5 Advance Search page allows for searching extended attributes that are indexed. I'd like to customize the extended attributes drop down list on this page:

1. Make the display of custom attributes more user friendly. Right now it shows the true TeamSite EA names. For example: TeamSite/Metadata/business_unit. Can I define a label in a configuration file so show "Business Unit" in the drop-down instead?

2. Remove the standard fields added automatically by TeamSite Search, such as "TeamSite/Templating/PrimaryDCR", BranchId, etc from the drop-down list.

Can anyone please give me some suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Look at the TS6.5 UICG. Specifically page 131

I've got it to work, thanks!

I looked in the UICG before, but not in the readme section... Wonder why this only shows up in the readme file, and there is not a ref_search.xml in the <iwhome>\local\config\lib\content_center\reference folder...

I modify the search_custom.xml to customize advance search attribute list label, following is part of this file:

<extended-attribute-list id="iw.search.attribute_list">

<extended-attribute id="Teamsite/Metadata/doc_type"
label="resource type"
resourceBundle="com.example.strings" />
<extended-attribute id="Teamsite/Metadata/title"
label="resource type"
resourceBundle="com.example.strings" />
<extended-attribute id="LastModifier" label="×îºóµÄÐÞ¸ÄÕß"/>

<extended-attribute id="Details" label="ÏêϸÃè»æ"/>
<extended-attribute id="Business Unit" label="²¿ÃÅ"/>

</extended-attribute-list>

only last 3 attribute works, my EA- do not insert into the drop down list,why?
EA name is not correct?
I write this EA according fieldmapping.xml.

hello, would you be able to post a snippet of what you did to do this? from the post below I think I get it, but from reading UICG I am not sure what file to put it in, the readme talks about search.xml, and the other part of the guide says to put it in ui_custom.xml

kellyrmilligan

Alex, did you ever get this working?

Migrateduser

yes,it works now.
I found it's because teamsite is case sensitive ,if using wrong case for EA, no EA appears on drop down list.

kellyrmilligan

Would you be able to post your search_custom.xml file? I just want one that works so I can modify it. The sample toolkit one isn't even working on my system.

Migrateduser

hmm, that sounds odd. You might want to contact support to see if they can help you isolate what's happening.

Hi, could I ask for something in relation to ?

The reference file /local/config/lib/content_center/reference/etc/conf/README_search_config_types.txt states: "You may only modify existing Interwoven extended-attribute lists.":
- Describes a list of custom extended attributes.
Used by the ContentCenter application to
determine which attributes appear on the
Advanced Search screen. Contains

sub-elements. You may
only modify existing Interwoven
extended-attribute lists. You may customize
the following attributes:

resourceBundle - The property file to use for the child
element if any child elements do not
specify their own. (optional)

- Describes a custom extended attribute. It has
the following attributes:

id - ID for this attribute. This should be unique.
(required).
label - See definition under link (base toolkit). This
could be a literal string or a string id
contained in the property file. (optional)
resourceBundle - The property file to use for the label string
id. This overrides the file specified
in the parent element. (optional)

The following is an example:

label="custom.attribute.description"
resourceBundle="com.example.strings"/>
I put the following in search_custom.xml:

Now, that obviously leads to just having the following 2 options in Advanced Search in CCPRO:

Keywords
publish_date

I know from the README file that the 4 "custom" search criteria are not picked up. But how do I get them to show all? for the moment just the publish_date shows up as id, not as label?

catorarn

I overlooked a piece in the UICG pdf and I managed to get the labels customised like this:

However, I still see just the one option appearing per template-type in the dropdown. I think I miss some configuration setting.

catorarn

i see in the uicg.650a.g.pdf, page 43 the following:
To have six fields to potentially search on in the Advanced Search screen, edit ui_custom.xml:
I tried that in ui_custom.xml and/or search_custom.xml, however I do not see all my options appearing. I am close now, but I wonder what the exact context is and where it is I should this.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I figured out that I incorrectly used extended-attributes-list, instead of template-files.

I now have this:

The result is that I see one template-type listed in all dropdowns. The max-num-fields property is documented in ui_custom.xml in the UICG pdf. I have it in search_custom.xml and/or ui_custom.xml without results.

I did a full reindex of the branch, but that does not show to be successfull neither.

So the issue I have has transgressed into how do i display more than one custom template-types?

catorarn

I got further on this one, I found that I configured FieldMapping.xml incorrectly. It was:

and it is now picking up all options in the drop down, except expiration_date:

It is working now, but for the expiration_date. That one did work before, so I suspect I need to reindex the branch again.

catorarn

Hi, and now it is fully functional. I found in the iw.tssearch.log that I did not put the correct id in FieldMapping.xml for expiration_date. I set the label instead of the field name:
[19 Sep 2007 15:49:35,542] DEBUG com.interwoven.hunter.common.LoggingPrintStream (Thread-31) - XMLDataGram.send:
[

Knowledgebase/Article

owner
string

Expiration Date
date

publish_date
date

expose_to_client
string

0
"Expiration Date" should be expiration_date.

This business requirement has been met now.

I modify the search_custom.xml to customize advance search attribute list label, following is part of this file:

<extended-attribute-list id="iw.search.attribute_list">

<extended-attribute id="Teamsite/Metadata/doc_type"
label="resource type"
resourceBundle="com.example.strings" />
<extended-attribute id="Teamsite/Metadata/title"
label="resource type"
resourceBundle="com.example.strings" />
<extended-attribute id="LastModifier" label="×îºóµÄÐÞ¸ÄÕß"/>
<extended-attribute id="Details" label="ÏêϸÃè»æ"/>
<extended-attribute id="Business Unit" label="²¿ÃÅ"/>

</extended-attribute-list>

only last 3 attribute works, my EA- do not insert into the drop down list,why?
EA name is not correct?
I write this EA according fieldmapping.xml.

i have simliar issue like the one above i added a number of EA to the Advanced Search , they are appearing in the indexed Drop down menu just fine, also i can search on them correctly

but when i try to change their label using search_custom.xml file nothing happens and they still show up as "TeamSite/Metadata/dpg.primaryNavigation instead of the label which is "Topic" is there any issue with having the slashes in the id making TS not being able to recognize them
label="Topic"/>
also what is the deal with the order those EA appearing in the drop down menu ?????????????????

by the way i am using TS 6.7.1 SP1 , linux server
any help would be appreciated ..
