"onItemChange" not firing

Hi all,

I am experiencing problems with the "omItemChange" event when I modify the following texarea field.

<textarea required="f" rows="15" cols="50" external-editor="visualformat" />

What happens is the event is fired properly when I am making a change and I am in the WYSIWYG mode of VisualFormat.
But when I switch to the source mode and make some modifications and then click on another field the "omItemChange" event is not fired. What can I do in this situation? Did anyone experience this kind of problem?
