Apache-FOP

I was at a really great Bay Area User Group Meeting and heard of a customer using Apache-FOP so their users could auto create pdfs from template data. I was wondering if anyone else is doing it? And if so how are you running it? From command line or as an embedded app?

Another project I was on used that. We ran it inside a PT which ran a system command to run fop and
generate the PDF. Worked pretty slick, but of course I do not have the code anymore.

I believe there should be an article by Brett Clifton, a former colleague of mine (who is still a Senior Tech. Colsutant with IWOV). Sales guys used his work to sell templating as being capable of producing PDFs.

another thing that I myself would prefer better - TPL can produce HTML which could easily be converted into PDF using free tools.. piece of cake... ghostscript, etc.
