Login failure

We have Teamsite 5 5 2 running on solaris 8. Installation was proper and everything worked fine till friday.

On friday i copied some custom written cgi/ipl files to iw-home/httpd/iw-bin. Then changed the permission of the whole httpd/iw-bin to 775.

Now the problem. None of the users are able to log into teamsite web desk pro. However im able to login to the machine through telnet.

Any idea abt why this should happen?

I would say that there would have had to have been more changes in the system other than what you mentioned.

What are the permissions of iwhome/conf/roles
and do the users exist in the role files?

Are you using ldap for authentication?

Are you talking about just the directory - or the contents of the directory here.

If the latter - you've definitely broken things and I suggest you look around in the site-searching here and/or on Support for the documentation regarding permissions for files - because there are a number of files that need to be setuid root and/or setgid something - and changing all the files in httpd/iw-bin would definitely have messed some of that up.

thanks for the solution. It was exactly the problem.

I searched through the other teamsite server's /iw-home/httpd/iw-bin. It had quite a number of files that needs setuid root. I changed the permissions of those files and everything started working fine again.
