Multiple Versions

TS 5.5.2 sp2 solaris

Over the weekend, a run away job has submitted the same version of a file (datacapture.cfg) many, many times in each branch in our branching structure.
This has created multiple Staging area versions for this file, in each branch, which has filled up our backing store to 95%, and hence the store has frozen itself.

Basically does anyone have any ideas on how we can remove these unneccessary versions and reduce the disk space usage?

Would deleting the "hidden" branch/EDITION/#123 numbered editions using iwrmed or plain old rm from the command line do this?

All help urgently appreciated!

I'd suggest trying to run iwfsshrink on the backing store first (assuming you can manage to get it up and running in a non-frozen state).

After that, if disk space still seems to be a problem then you can try deleting editions - but it's difficult to do with 'hidden' editions as I'm not sure deleting them from the command line does the "right thing" and I don't believe there is anyway to expose them in the UI to delete them from there.

I'm surprised the submit operation succeeded all those times unless your process actually modifies the file before doing the submit - in which case I'm not sure how much iwfsshrink will help (if you just 'touch' the file - it will help - if you actualy modify the contents of the file... it probably won't help)
