weird inline beahviour

Ottawa_IWOV

Have an inline command script thats works flawlessly from the command line. Part of the sctript grabs a hash of the EAs on a file, and then prints them out as HTML options in a select

When I try an executve the iwextattr command from File > New Form Entry

I get:

ERROR:5000068: Error connecting to server:

Any ideas on this one??

TeamSite 6.5, Windows 2003 EE

If you have access to the server from the command line - what does iwstat show?

everything checks out fine w/ iwstat ...

Let's take a step back - what does "When I try an executve the iwextattr command from File > New Form Entry" mean?

New Form Entry does not execute iwextattr (to the best of my knowledge) - it attempts to bring up a list of applicable Form *categories* from which the user can choose, after doing that it presents a list of the applicable Form *data types* for that category from which the user can choose; after that it reads the DCT for that category/data-type and renders it as a form for the user to fill in and save.

Sorry -

Went a llittle fast there. I have an inline command thatr is being execute when the form is rendered. Inside that script iwextattr is being executed. I re-direct STDERR to STDOUT (2>&1), and I get Error connecting to server messages. However, my inlne command runs fine from the command line ...

I guess I could accomplish this task with FormAPI, but that is not a resolution to the problem whatsoever ...

Are you accessing your TS client from the server itself or from another machine?

Is the only thing happening in that inline script an iwextattr?

Can you perhaps post the inline script?

I have some hunches - but I'd rather see the code before going off on some wild tangent.

Here you go ... Please have mercy on my Perl ...

#!D:\PROGRA~1\INTERW~1\TeamSite/iw-perl/bin/iwperl

use TeamSite::Config;
$iwmount = TeamSite::Config::iwgetmount();
### Path to the collections
my $collDir = $iwmount . "/default/main/FAC/content/WORKAREA/content/templatedata/fac_e/collections/data";

### Open the directory, read in the file names

}
### End directory operation

while($item = readdir(COLL)) {
my $fullpath = $collDir.'/'.$item;
if (-f $fullpath) {
print LOG "$fullpath\n";
$ealist = get_ea_hash($fullpath);
#print LOG "$eaHash\n";
foreach $ea (keys %$ealist) {
print LOG "$$eaHash{$ea}\n";
#if ($ea =~ /dc\.title.*/i) {
#push @titles, $$eaHash{$ea};
#}
}
} else {

}
}

sub get_ea_hash {
my($file) = shift;
$file =~ s/y:/\/\/lbpdmkwm05/ig;
$file =~ s/\\/\//ig;
print LOG "$file\n";
my $hash_ref = {};
my $iwhome = TeamSite::Config::iwgethome();
print LOG "$iwhome\n";
my (@result) = `$iwhome/bin/iwextattr $file 2>&1`;
print LOG "@result\n";

print LOG "here\n";
chomp($line);
my ($key, $value) = split(/=/, $line);

}
return $hash_ref;
}

print LOG "<?xml version=\"1.0\" encoding=\"UTF-8\"?>\n";
print LOG "<substitution>\n";

foreach $t ( @titles ) {
print LOG "<option value=\"$t\" label=\"$t\"/>\n";
}
print LOG "</substitution>\n";
close (LOG);
exit;

Adam Stoller

I could definitely critique the perl code - but maybe later (if you remind me ;-) - however, what I'd really like to know is what does $file look like at the point in time when this line:

my (@result) = `$iwhome/bin/iwextattr $file 2>&1`;

is executed. You appear to be logging this information in IWHOME/tmp/test.out - would you mind posting that file (or at least the snippet that shows what $file is)?

Sure ... here is the snippet ...

Adam Stoller

I suggest you *don't* hadd in the //lbpdmkwm05 to the beginning of the file pate.

My guess is that that is *not* the actual server name (i.e. not qualified, spelled wrong, something like that) and so when iwextattr is processing that vpath it's trying to connect to that server and failing.

Sorry Fish, I sent you the wrong version ... That was testing I was doing after I kept getting the error. Even if I comment out those lines, I continue to get the problem (i.e Y:\defaiult\main ... is used in iwextattr)

jbonifaci

Just to confirm, you don't comment out the line that is changing your slashes, correct? I notice in your log file that the Y:\... path you are logging has mixed slashes. Windows lets you use either forward or back slashes, but if you have mixed slashes, it will not find the file.

Ottawa_IWOV

Still have the problem. Is there something in the $ENV that might be messing it up?

iwovGraduate

your $ENV should not matter for running iwextattr as long as you have proper PATH settings.

It does not harm to test it anyways. Modify your script to print all ENV variables. Run it from commandline and as an inline. You can set the missing ENV vars and run it again as an inline.

I assume these are the ones I am supposed to be getting?

I am thinking a support case is the only way around this one ...

Just to trace back, if you execute your inline script from command line does it work as expected ?

Ottawa_IWOV

Yes, it works fine. If I call iwextattr on the server, it works fine. Also, I have a CMI, that executes a Perl script, and it can call iwextattr no problems either ... perplexing ...

Also, calling iwextattr from a <iw_perl> </iw_perl> block in a TPL is successful ...

Adam Stoller

You don't want Y: at the beginning of the path either. As I was waiting on some other stuff to get done ...First pass script cleanup - there's more I can think of doing, but hey - you're getting paid for this...

WOW Fish! I guess I would have scored a C, nit bad at all, given the grader ;-)

Still the same problem, something very strange is happening on this one. I think I am going to open a case w/ IWOV Support. It's funny, iwextattr works in every other siutation (TPL, trigger script, custom menu item (httpd/iw-bin))

Thanks again for all the personal attention on this one.
