Teamsite Crash and does not start - Help Critical
kish2
We have teamsite 5.5.2 runnign and it suddenly crashed . the error logs do not show any meaningful error except that
iwfsck output gives this curious error as well as when any command line tool is used :
"TeamSite I18N initialization failure.
To run TeamSite I18N version, please make sure $iwhome/lib/locale/*.nls exists
Make sure the locale you are running under is supported by TeamSite."
Support as usual has been dragging - anyone faced this before. The web deamon and open deploy services have started but teamiste proxy and teasmite give a command console 1053 error : the service has not replied in the time frame which is a windows error
We are runnign on windows 2000 server with apache as web server
Tried everythig including machine reboot many times ...
At wits end

Hi gratefulguy
Have you changed your locale lately? What is it set to?
You might find this post helpful:
http://devnet.interwoven.com/forums/cgi-bin/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=PRODUCTS_TEAMSITE&Number=1974&page=&view=&sb=&o=&vc=1
Cheers
Michael
kish2
Thanks Micheal
The locale is set to English_UnitedStates.MS1252@Binary;
The thing is ITeamsite has been working fine till yesterday when it suddently crashed and does not start up again . Licensing and everything else seems to be fine
Thanks for the link but if its possible to tell me which file does this locale correspond to so i can check in the Folder to see if its there?
Thanks
Kish2

the error logs do not show any meaningful
Might be a good idea to post your logs. Somebody might be able to spot something that you might have overlooked.
What is the locale for your TS server. Has it been changed since TS was running ?
Any other IWOV products/patches/SPs installed recently ?
Any other system changes such as hostname/domainname, etc ?
Did you check if you have the necessary files in $iwhome/lib/locale/*.nls ? Might be a good idea to verify if there are any missign files from a backup (I suppose you have a good backup)
Which TS SPs/patches are installed ?

I don't see the error you indicated earlier in these log snippets. Am I missing something ? Is the I18N error not a problem anymore ?
I notice you are getting an error with DrvUnMountDevice .. I have seen this happen when you try to stop TeamSite (which will try to unmount Y
but you have some open file handles within Y:\. It might be that IIS has some files locked. In that case, stop IIS before stopping iwserver.
I would suggest you compare the *.nls files in your iw-home with a good back from the time you know that TS was working.
I am not sure why you have this line in your iwserver.cfg:
mkdir I:/default/main/Foreign_Language_Sites/English/WORKAREA/Shared_WA/docroot/products/secure

Hi,
Could someone running TS 5.5.2 confirm the number of files in the locale folder
Thanks
kish2
Thanks IWOV Graduate
The I18N error Was obtained when i did a
<iw-home>/private/bin/iwfsck -d > iwfsck.output 2>&1 and also when i tried to start iwteamsite.exe from the command line
I am currently working on doing a Hard Physical reboot of the machine
Else,
I Plan on setting up teamsite on another machine and then doing a iwfsck -b to the old backing store
think that will work? Any advice on restoring teamsite from backing store is appreciated
Thanks in advance

when i tried to start iwteamsite.exe from the command line ...
Runing iwserver from commandline was never a recommended way to start/restart TeamSite server as fas as I know.
Try rebooting the box and check the logs for startup errors.
kish2
Well I am about to fall on my sword ..
Tried Hard physical reboot .. still teamsite does not work .... Only option is to do a seperate install and recover from back up
Thanks for all your help
will get back to you
Thanks

Found out that one of the files in /lib/locale was missing control.nls
does anyone know if this is a critical file and if missing will teamsite not start at all or am i grasping at smoke?
really appreciate thoughts

I believe TS needs that file. I have seen a similar problem in the past but don't have more details at the moment.
Try to get that file from a backup, reboot the box and see if the problem persists.
chart_table_data.zip

Yeah I figured that out and put it in prod and now teamsite is back up But the IwMount is seen but the GUI is now blank afer i did the restore
ANY Ideas on what might be wrong. i did a Iw reset -a and still the GUI is blank - Gui has only back and refresh buttons at top
when i entered as editor the gui showed this error
GetSciErrorString is unable to open a session.
The gui has none of the buttons or any custom script sor even i cannot seee the directory tree at left hand side
ANy clues?
Mucho appreciated

Search the forums with that error message - " GetSciErrorString". You'll find a few threads on this. Also search the support site for KBs. I remember reading one or two about this message.
If that still does not help, work with support as they are better equiped with handling such situations.

Well Been working on this and now planning to upgrade to service pack 6 for 5.5.2 since all else is failing
Hopefully will be taken care of by this
thanks guys

Just a word of caution:
If you are getting those errors because of a corrupted backing store, installing SP will not help.
kish2
The Upgrade to Service pack 6 took care of it..
Thanks for all your help
IWov graduate and Fish
Luckily backign stoe was not corrupted
The forum rocks
thanks
