solution workflow custimization

tik

I am trying to customize the configurable author submit workflow. I need to add one more deployment to development server before it comes to the Reviewer. That way the reviewer can check the changes on the development server and accordingly Approve or Reject.Any ideas.? Thanks in advance

The configurable workflows are not configurable in the way you want. They don't allow you to easily add a new deployment task prior to the submit task. You'll have to write your own WFT or make an attempt to modify the vastly complicated configurable_author_submit WFT file. There's always Workflow Builder... Smiley Happy

Have you looked at the configurable author submit WFT? Good luck adding a new task to it. You're better off using one of the other sample workflows and adding tasks to it than messing with the configurable WFTs. Or if you want to hardcode everything, use the configurable WFT to spit out a job spec and just add your deployment task to it. Modifying the configurable workflows looks harder than creating your own WFT from scratch.

We do that exact same thing.

When the user initiates a workflow I start and external task that iterates through the files in the workflow and then copies them from the y: drive to a local drive on the same box

We then point a virtual directory to this folder on the local drive and the user is then able to view the changes before them make it to live.

I have attached code that may help. (Forgive me for the messyness) I really need to clean it up.

e:\commonrepositories is the folder that we copy our data to. You would want to copy it to a another folder.

Notes:
We don't use opendeploy for this process.
We were unable to send our files to a mapped drive due to Teamsite running as the System account on our Windows 2000 box (permission problems).
