Disable Content center standard

tecthis

Does anyone know how to disable the Content Center Standard UI in TS6.1 on UNIX?

Thanks,
Alex...

By what means to you want to disable this interface? Remove dropdown in the login page? Redirect in Apache if CCSTD application is accessed?

A couple of ways you could do it.

tecthis

Removing the drop down from the login page would work for me.

Thanks,
Alex...

I think removing the dropdown is not supprted - but most likely this could be done by hacking the code.....

I realize it's unsupported - but has anyone figured out how to actually disable this? I.e. remove "Standard" from the list of choices (or actually just set it to Professional and remove the drop-down altogether)?

I just took a look through the various files on my 6.1SP1 Solaris system and I couldn't find anything "simple" - I'm guessing it's compiled into a jar or war file somewhere - and not sure how to find it, and once I do - what to do about it.

My customer would definitely like to NOT have "Standard" appear as a choice for their users.

Hi Greg,

I was wondering how you were able to respond to Johnny: [re: Johnny], since he didn't post anything in this thread, and doesn't seem to exist either? Perhaps he's an Interwoven ghost???

Apparently I've got little to do today, since I'm commenting on this ;-)

I dunno.. I just saw this. Maybe lissa could shed some light?

Johny does exist in th real life, as far as I know Smiley Happy

There's a feature request for this: 54154.
I don't know about any ghosts, but it is almost Halloween here in the US.

The user Johnny still exists. But he may have removed the message that he posted after Greg replied to it.

Out of curiosity, why does your customer want to disable users from working in ccstd? Have the users been given the opportunity to try it out?

Thanks.

Because my customer has a large (I believe > 100) branches, with some users have accsess to most or all of them;
Because my customer has workflows that are intended to be run within the context of a branch/workarea and not from a generalized non-specific location (CCStd is similar to the To Do List in pre-6x versions of TS)
Because my customer does not want to have to do 2 different kinds of training for their users, many of whom are remote, and therefore doing multiple classes and/or trying to avoid user-confusion is generally preferred over something that [admittedly] looks nice but doesn't function as well in all circumstances.

True. It is really not supported. One thing to try is hitting teamsite with the parameter iw_which_ui=ccpro. Something like:

http://server?iw_which_ui=ccpro

This will remove the Content Center dropdown which allows users to choose which UI.

The users just go to http://teamsite (or similar) to get to their TeamSite server. Expecting them to remember to type that in is probably not realistic (even if they do it once, they might bookmark it, but then they *have* to remember to use their bookmar).

Is it possible to configure this in the httpd.conf.template - (if so, which line(s)?) - so that regardless of whether they type the un-adorned url or click on an existing bookmark it would inject this into the url before proceeding to the login page?

Fish,

I guess while we are in unsupported territory, yes, it is possible. You could edit rewrite.conf.template, replacing the rewrite rule for /. The line looks like this:

RewriteRule ^/$ /iw-cc/command/iw.ui [R,L]

changing to

#Unsupported and untested...
RewriteRule ^/$ /iw-cc/command/iw.ui?iw_which_ui [R,L]

might do the trick. This way, users can hit http://server/ and remap with the parameters. However, it is far from water-tight; if the user uses one of the CCI URLs and the user's session has expired, it would probably bypass this rewrite rule.

Thanks, I'll pass this on to my customer (today was my last day on-site) and let them try it out.

We also have a desire to disable CCSTD for our users. To support 2 vastly different UIs is just not feasible for us. We don't have the resources. Most of Ghoti's reasons would apply for us as well. It was, in my opinion, a big blunder for IW to assume that all of its customers would want 2 separate and distinct UIs. You should have made it possible for us to disable one of them.

If you remember, I have done rewrites to enable WebDeskPro in the dropdown. Using daniel's URL, you could just follow my techlib article. Tested and works.

You should have made it possible for us to disable one of them

it's one of the items in the list of *MANY* customizable features that had to be done in TS6.
(e.g. Wizards in CC STD, more flexibility in customising Forms Publisher, etc, et, etc)

I'm assuming if there is no way to disable one of the GUIs then there is probably not a way to allow editors and authors to only use the CCSTD and master and admins to use both?

I hid the Content Center Standard drop-down from the login page using the information from this post: Only CC - Pro

Here's what I did:
1. Copied IW_HOME/httpd/webapps/content_center/teamsite/auth/login.jsp to IW_HOME/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/web/teamsite/auth/login.jsp

2. Edited IW_HOME/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src/web/teamsite/auth/login.jsp and made these changes:

/** the currently selected ui **/
//String selectedUI = null; /* commented this line out */
String selectedUI = "ccpro"; /* add this line */

/** does the user get to choose? **/
//boolean uiChoiceIsFixed = false; /* comment this line out */
boolean uiChoiceIsFixed = true; /* add this line */

//String uiParam = request.getParameter( WhichUIContext.WHICH_UI_PARAM); /* comment this line out */
String uiParam = "ccpro"; /* add this line */

3. Switched to this directory: IW_HOME/local/config/lib/content_center/customer_src

4. Ran the following command to recompile login.jsp:
IW_HOME/iw-perl/bin/iwperl IW_HOME/bin/make_toolkit.ipl
