setVisibility of a replicant instance

I am unable to hide specific child items of a replicant using setVisible(false)

IWDatacapture.getItem(/cntImages/repBrandImages[2]).setVisible(false);

is not hiding the second replicant instance.

I many be wrong, but I don't believe you can hide entire replicant instances. Only leaf nodes - text, textarea, etc.
