XML to Pdf

Hi All,

I am not sure which area would be the best to post this...may be cross postings would help.

I need to convert XML and HTML files to PDF. I believe IW has discontinued OpenTransform owing to reasons for its problems with Teamsite integration.
Can anybody suggest me how can I achieve this now?

with XML (DCR) to PDF.. it was an article by one of the IWOV consultants how to do it

I might try to find one for you if you can't find it in the tech. library, as the article was written by own of my fellow consultants in Sydney.

as far as HTML to PDF is concerned, there are heaps of free and comercial tools, e.g. Adobe Acrobat could do it for you by placing a listener to a particular directory...

Hi Grey.

I could not find anything in the Tech Library. I am looking at the site you mentioned.
Basically I would need something in Perl itself, so that it easily integrates with my WF.

well, only perl will not likely to work. Yod'd need some XALAN functionality and I think FO.

If your company is ready to invest some money then a good tool I came across is http://www.corda.com/lpage/xml_to_pdf.html. They have examples how you can run the tool from either perl or java and which might server your purpose of calling from your workflow external task.

you shd you Xalan, XSLT and XML.
it wil convert your DCr (XML Data) to PDF / HTML printable format.

There are lot of commerical tools out there that will convert XML to PDF and HTMLand give you really high print quality. However, if you are not interested in high-quality PDF (typically expected for collateral and brochures etc), then something like FOP with XSLFO should do the job for you. You should be able to invoke FOP from within your Perl script.
