Version of eWebEditPro used for TeamSite 6.1

What version of eWebEditPro (Visual Format Editor) should be used with TeamSite 6.1's Body Content Window (in the DCR)? Are there compatibility issues of using eWebEditPro one version vis a vis another for TS 6.1?

version 2.0 is bundled with 6.1 -- why would you need / want to use a previous version? ... or are you looking to use a subsequent version? Curious...

It is just a matter of communication to the users. If eWebEditPro 2.0 comes bundled with TS 6.1, then our documentation needs to clearly state that--users should use this version.

P.S., just for curosity sake, was eWebEditPro 2.0 used in TS 5.5.2? I seem to recall that there are other upward versions (> 2.0) of eWebEditPro. Not to sound too crass, what's the logic here (since eWebEditPro 2.0 was released in 2001)?

First of all, I completely agree with you in that IW's documentation is sorely lacking. I don't believe version 2 was used in 5.5.2 but I could be wrong (I think it was like 1.3 or something like that). I admit I'm giving the benefit of the doubt here, but maybe IW's using only 2.0 because the later versions are not stable to use with the VFE? Shot in the dark, but if I slam IW every now and then, I should be nice sometimes :-)

Hey guys,

TeamSite 6.1 does *not* use the 2.x editor. Rather is has a newer version in 3.1.0.11. TS 5.5.2 used newer versions eWebEditPro 2 -- depending on which service pack you had.

This begs the question: should users use 3.1.0.11 instead of 2.0? Again, for users at the LCD (lowest common denominator), if 2.0 is "bundled" with TS 6.1, then what motivation is there to use 3.1.0.11?

If 3.1.0.11 is the preferred version (so to speak), should the documentation instruct the user to download it from Ektron?

Just wondering--my 2 cents.

As greg already said, Teamsite 6.1 comes with VF 3.1 not 2.x

Yes, my mistake... for some reason, we're using 2.0. Works fine, though. Hmm, weird...

You'll have to use 3.1 if you're using TS 6.1. The first time you hit a form with a VF field you'll be prompted to download. Same drill as in past versions. For example, you cannot view a Flash 7 based site in Flash 6. You are required to d/l a new version. Because the html specifies a different version (in classid and code attributes) of the ActiveX control.

we are on ts 5.5.2 sp2 and currently have eweditpro vers 2,6,0,7

i check by hittin their test page:

is the new 3.0 version much better? im really dislike the vers im using.
