Newbie Question - Removing Content from WorkSpace
timw86
I am sure there is an easy answer to my question, but I have been unsuccessfully in finding the answer.
I would like to remove content items from a Collaborative Workspace. I am refereeing to the notes, document folder, task list, etc. On each of these items, I have the ability to "add folders" and "edit" content. I am also a workspace creator and a workspace admin. I have all privileges granted for this work space. I can add content items to the workspace. I am just having trouble removing content items.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Tim

there is a delete command; which should be accessible to you if you have privileges. It's in the pulldown on each document. If you do not have this in the list of commands, you probably do not have permission to delete assets, and you should speak to your system administrator.

lissa, Thank you for reading and replying to my post. I do have "delete" command on individual documents under the action command. I still do not see a remove or delete command on the individual gadget or content item group such as notes, document folders, tasks lists, inbox, issue list, etc.
If I go to the "Layout page, then I can move the content objects from left to right to top to bottom. I still can not remove existing items.
If I go to the "Add Content" page, then I can add additional content items, such as notes, and document folders. I still can not remove existing items.
If I go to the "Manage" page, then I have control of the workspace. I can control properties, members, workgroups, security policies, tags, workflow templates, project templates, trash bin, history. I still can not remove existing content objects.
Is there a certain security setting that I am missing?
Thanks,
Tim

you need to 'zoom' the container by selecting it's name so that it is full frame. Then you should see delete option on the menu bar

Barney,
Thank you. I know see how to delete container objects such as documents and tasks lists. I still am having a problem with the note. It does not have a typical control bar. It does not have a hyperlink name for you to click on. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Tim

Tim,
The note is like every other collaborative object... just zoom in to see the delete menu item on the upper right. If the note doesn't have a title bar, edit it and deselect "Hide Title Bar" -- then zoom in and delete as normal.

John, Barney, Lisa,
Thank you for reading my posts.
What if the note has previously been created and the option to "hide title bar" has been checked. Therefore the note is on the page with no title bar. With no title bar, there is not an EDIT link to zoom and delete. With no title bar, there is not a title to click and zoom to delete. All I see is rendered HTML displaying the text of the note. Any suggestions on removimg this item?

As long as you have the right permissions, you can still edit a Note that doesn't have a title bar. Look to the upper right of the note, and you should see the word "edit" in red. Looking at an example right now, I actually see both edit and delete. I'll attach a screenshot with a note highlighted in green.

Hi,
Doublc click on the component name then you can get delete option in that page.

That is correct, many MP items that have a title bar do not have the delete (some do so be careful!) menu option as primary option to prevent you from accidentally deleting a content container when you were only trying to delete an item.
Zooming into the item always displays the delete option if you ahve the proper security rights.

Hi Tim,
IF still facing problem ...........
Could you check what Security was / is set when this NOTE ( and others too ) Component were added ? More specifically could you stress on how have you created these components with What Security set for each ? Surely you will find a way here.
Also not a bad try to check & verify ALL the default PRIVELEGES in Library Manager ( Especially 3rd from Top - DELETE an Object [ document / content ] in WorkSpace MUST be TRUE. )
Thanks,
Patel.

By any chance, are you using WebSphere (or Weblogic, I don't remember now)? We had this bug on WebSphere/Weblogic where you don't see the edit link on note if you enable the 'Hide Titlebar' option. Please do a search for the note content from the workspace and then zoom into the item from search results; you can now delete it.
This bug has been fixed in a recent hotfix.

I am a newbie as well and have somewhat related questions/problems:
How do I delete a workspace that I created in error?
Is there a way to configure the system to warn you that you are creating duplicates? Especially when it appears impossible to remove them.
How do I delete documents?
Most puzzling - I can delete folders, but folder deletion does not get rid of the documents contained therein. This results in orphaned documents that pop up in search results but are otherwise 'lost' and 'invisible.'
So dow do you delete documents?
Thanks.
