Visual Template Builder - mm:beginlock tags

I am trying to use the Visual template builder plugin to dreamweaver to create some presentation templates, but having some problems. Specifically I have some <iw_if> tags but at some stage (not sure when) DreamWeaver adds mm:beginlock tags around the iw_if tags. Is anyone else getting this problem (is it a bug or is it me). Does anyoneone know why the tags are added, or how I can prevent it?
