Data Deploy script stops mid-way with no error

System

We have a workflow that calls a data deploy script. Most of the time the script executes just fine, but occasionally, the script suddenly stops without deploying the metadata to the database. The odd thing is that, according to the log, the script may fail at different points -- and it never provides an error. I've attached a consolidated log of when it works when it stops. Any thoughts about what might be happening?

Looks like your externaltask script might not be capturing the error from DD.

What happens when you try to execute the same command manually from the command prompt ?
Try running:
e:/iw-home/TeamSite/../DataDeploy/bin/iwdd_capture_output.ipl cfg=e:/iw-home/TeamSite/../DataDeploy/conf/OpsLibrary_workflow.cfg deployment=OpsLibrary area="/default/main/Libraries/OpsLibrary/STAGING" dbconnection=e:/iw-home/DataDeploy/conf/database.xml filelist="e:/iw-home/TeamSite/tmp/filelist.65312"

Make sure that e:/iw-home/TeamSite/tmp/filelist.65312 exists.

Can you post your iwdd_capture_output.ipl file ?

Always a good idea to mention in your post :

- TS version
- OS
- SP/Patch level
- (in your case) DD/OD version

TS 5.5.2 SP 6
Windows 2000
OD 551 SP2

I believe I'm on DD 5.5.1 but I don't know the CLT to use to be certain.

From the logs you posted:

DataDeploy Version 5.5.2 Build 9275 Interwoven 20020617

RTFM might be a good idea to find out which CLT will give you version

This is the output from running the following:

e:/iw-home/TeamSite/../DataDeploy/bin/iwdd_capture_output.ipl cfg=e:/iw-home/TeamSite/../DataDeploy/conf/OpsLibrary_workflow.cfg deployment=OpsLibrary area="/default/main/Libraries/OpsLibrary/STAGING" dbconnection=e:/iw-home/DataDeploy/conf/database.xml filelist="e:/iw-home/TeamSite/tmp/filelist.65312"

Seems like no errors. Is it resolved ?

Post the output when you are able to reproduce the problem.
You might also want to look at iwddd.log

What command does your iwdd_capture_output.ipl run ?

Hey Evan, haven't seen you for a while.

What did you change ? It seems to be working now.

No change was made. Like I said, the DD script works most every time. Only infrequently do I see it just suddenly stop in mid-execution. If I try to replicate the exact same DD command it works just fine. I don't know where else to look.

Migrateduser

where is the iwddd.log?

The command I'm running is...
iwdd_capture_output.ipl cfg=e:/iw-home/TeamSite/../DataDeploy/conf/OpsLibrary_workflow.cfg deployment=OpsLibrary area="/default/main/Libraries/OpsLibrary/STAGING" dbconnection=e:/iw-home/DataDeploy/conf/database.xml filelist="e:/iw-home/TeamSite/tmp/filelist.65312"

Check iwddd.log
If your script - iwdd_capture_output.ipl, was calling iwdd.ipl, you should see the earlier errors in there.

iwovGraduate

Should be in your DD home directory unless you changed the default location for logs.

You can use "find <path> -name iwddd.log -print"
Or "Start" -> "Search" -> "For Files or Folders" on windows.

Or install TS 6.5 and use TS search

I found no iwddd.log file anywhere in my Data Deploy or TeamSite home. Where do I look to see if the default logs location has been changed?

iwovGraduate

You are running iwdd_capture_output.ipl from your workflow which I believe is some custom code and not part of DD/TS distribution.
Can you post that file ?

In this script we append the output of the DD script into one large log file that contains OD output. That's the first file that I posted in this topic. See attached.
