My Favorites limit in TS6.1
pacer11
Can anyone tell me where to find the documentation supporting the fact that you can add no more than 50 items to your favorites list? I have looked at the online help files included in both the Standard and Professional interfaces as well as the Admin guides.
If there happens to be some magical number thought up by Interwoven to limit favorites, is there a way to change this given the fact that It would have been nice to communicate a limit so that you can enforce the limit.

I remember reading about this limit in the release notes for 6.1. The limit is most definitely 50. Probably a magic number.
The UI customisation guide for 6.1 states that this is neither a configurable or customizable feature.
Cheers,
Adrian.

Hi,
Here is what is documented in the Release Notes:
50230 In ContentCenter Standard, attempting to add over 50 items to My Favorites results in an error message reading Too many favorites to add. The maximum is 50. Then the displayed page does not go back to the previous page titled “Submissions succeeded” or to the main page.
It seems like the bug was to fix where the display went after the error message was displayed, and this was only in reference to the Content Standard Interface. We are using the Professional Interface.
I guess what I am venting about is the fact that the end user should know there is a limit. The release notes are not necessarily geared towards the end user but more for the developers/administrators of the application. A simple line in the online help provided in both Interfaces would have set the user expectation level to the fact that there is a limit. Right now, the sense is that there is no limit so when they do get an error message, they think it's a software bug.
This may seem very insignificant to the developers/administrators of the system, but it's very significant to people using the system to perform daily tasks as it helps them perform tasks faster. So I hope that Interwoven either provides the flexibility in future releases to have the limit dictated by us rather than them. If not at least provide documentation stating otherwise.
My .02 cents!!!

This is something one would expect to see in a User's Guide - the User's Guide that Interwoven believes more than a
slew
of its customers don't want or need. If the online help. that Interwoven believes is so robust you don't need a User's Guide manual, doesn't have this important piece of information then the online help needs to be updated. Documentation is certainly not Interwoven's strong point.

Smitty, Smitty, Smitty,
it is just like college, remeber when the Prof said "It is intuitively obvious that some very convoluted theory is true" ?
Same thing, it is soooo obvious even your users don't need a manual

You are correct, sir. My users won't need a manual because if all goes well, they will never have to see the TeamSite UI's at all.

& you will have lifetime employment. Are you certain you are not a consultant ?
