Hypersonic Database
herald10
Hi,
We are planning to use the database that comes with opendeploy for reporting. The plan is to archive 1 year data. So the database(Hypersonic) should be able to store few gigs. But the documentation clearly says that this database is only for demonstration purposes and recommends using other certified databases like oracle, SQL server or DB2. For the current project, we have decided to use Hypersonic itself as it needs to store few gigs only and we will archive all the data at the end of the year. Will there be any problems with this approach.
Thanks a lot
H

The bundled Hypersonic is a light-weight, flat file database that hasn't been stress tested. Makes for easy out-of-the-box OD reporting demonstrations, but if you intend to put it into production, you should consider running your own stress tests to make sure it's up to the task.

Can we take a back up of that flat file from time-to-time to prevent the database from crashing?
Thanks

I'm afraid I don't have any expertise with the database. It's an open source product, so you should be able to find out by checking the associated documentation for the database. The version of Hypersonic used by OD can be found in the OD Release Notes (version is different between OD 5.6 and 6.0.)
