passing a reference

I would like to pass a reference to a hash & an array as parameters to the <command> tag in the external task. here is my command:

<command v="__INSERT__($deployCommand2); __INSERT__($TSStaging); Prod __INSERT__(\%filesGolive); __INSERT__(\@pub
lish_files);"/>

%filesGolive & @publish_files are the hash & array respectively. I would like to use the reference to them in my external perl script. These references are not getting passed with the above syntax. Can anyone help or have any ideas?

That's not going to work.

Your references are going to get dereferenced when you put them in the command string. Even if they didn't, the things to which they refer would be out of scope by the time the external task begins executing, since the instance of the workflow compiler that started the workflow will be long gone. You can either put the contents into workflow variables (maybe as a comma separated list), write them into a temp file, store them in a db, or pass them as literals on the command line. Those (and variants of them) are pretty much your only options.
