Launchpad Applet
kds721
We have a user that we cannot configure their launchpad. When we select Edit LaunchPad she gets only a red X. We're already aware of Knowledge Base Article: 50245 "When Running the Launchpad Applet a Gray Page Appears ". This is a different problem. We're using Teamsite v5.5.2. Any ideas?? Is this related to her IE settings?

Could it be the JVM in the browser using? If their browser is configured for Sun JVM, try disabling that, which may cause other web apps to malfunction.

Turns out the user needed a Java plug in. She just downloaded off the internet and the applet worked fine. Thanks for the input.

Launchpad normally uses the Microsoft VM (if you use IE), so you do not need any Java Plugin to run it properly.

Sort of. We can use either JVM sometimes.
There are some cases when Windows does not install the MS JVM. In
that case, you'll need to get the Sun JVM. You also might be able to
find a MS JVM installer binary somewhere on the net, if you Google.
In 6.x, with IE, CCPro is better about alerting the user if they do not have
java installed or if it's not enabled - not perfect, but better....
In 5.5, you should be using the latest TeamSite SP if you decide
to use the sun plug-in.
