Replicant Preview

I would like to create a way for users to preview only one node from a replicant list. So, for example, if a DCR contains a replicant field with three nodes like this:

I would like the user to be able to select one of the three nodes and have it rendered as a preview using the presentation template.

Any ideas on how to go about doing this?

How do you want the user to select one of the replicants ?
Perhaps you have a checkbox item within each of your replicants ?
If so, you can always put the logic in your PT to ignore other replicants.

The last thing that happens in my workflow after approvals is for the replicant records to be written to a DB via Data Deploy. We are using an Application Server to serve up the resulting pages. So, on this particular project, Teamsite is being used for content contributions and approvals only. I would like for the content contributors to be able to preview one replicant at a time, as each record corresponds to a resulting page of text on the site.

I did consider adding a field to the DCT for previewing (check box, or something similar). I would rather have an intermitant step, such as a window that results after hitting preview with a drop box to select a record, and then generate the html. Not sure if this is possible, though.

You might be able to do this with a callout...

Each replicant could have an empty (as in no field - i think a select list with no options does that - search the forum for more details) callout.
That callout would have to implement the calling routine for page generation/preview (in the simplest case - iwgen ) and then display the results in the callout window.
And remove the generic preview button from the template screen.

Sure you can do it. But I would suggest using a callout as suggested by John, which gives a better user experience - one click as opposed to two.
