Perl Can't Identify IW Directory?

I am looping through all the files in a directory and regerating each one using iwregen, but the process chokes when it hits a directory. I tried skipping directories like this, but Perl does not seem to be aware that the directory is in fact a directory and tries to process the command anyway:

LOOP: foreach (@files){
next LOOP if -d $_;

&regenerateDoc($_);
}

Does IW-PERL have difficulty identifying directories inside TeamSite. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

It should look and act like any other directory to Perl - you might want to post more of your code. But why not:

foreach my ${file} ( @{files} )
{
if ( ! -d ${file} )
{
regenerateDoc( ${file} );
}
}
