Hi
TS 5.5.2 Solaris
Does anyone know what value the dbeng7 process adds to teamSite.
root 27996 1 24 Sep 24 ? 39128:26 /iw/iw-home/tools/db/sqlanywhere-7.0.1/SYBSsa7/bin/dbeng7 -c 16M -mf /iw/iw-home
As far as I was aware, its the process that writes event info to the sybase database, hidden away in the guts of teamSite.
Is this events database used for anything other than the Global Reporting Center? (which we dont make use of)
Or does the iwevents CLT use this too for submit/update info..?
This process is always one of the top processes on the server and consumes alot of CPU, with no real value seemingly added!!
27996 root 18 59 -20 265M 257M cpu0 651.6H 37.70% dbeng7
Can it be disabled, or run at a lower priority in the run queue?
Just a thought...

Hi,
I have stopped this process and disallowed it from restarting with no ill effects.

Hi,
I assume you have some script and cron to rotate your iw and iwui logs.
Our method: After log rotation at midnight iw.server is started back up
and in the rotate script I make use of perl to stop the service explicitly:
my $EVENTSTOP = `/cs/iw/iw-home/private/bin/iwevent stop`;
This can be modified into ksh easily if you don't rotate the logs with perl.
Remember: This has to be stopped AFTER iw.server comes back up.
