iw-proxy and apostrophe

I have a user who has an apostrophe in their login name and whenever they preview content, it takes a long time for iw-proxy to resolve the paths and display the images. Anybody else experiencing this problem or know how to solve it?

There is a regexp in the proxy but I doubt that is causing the problem,

Try running the iwproxy CLT's debug option to check all the translations made by the proxy server. Are you on windows / Solaris and the version you are running? Check the command line book for more options on using the command.
