French character

artor

Hi

I am deploying a war file to app server and before deploying I m running a script which runs the ant and make the war file and then deploy to target location but I am having a problem that sometimes french charcter works ok and some time it doesn't.

I have set LANG=en_US.ISO8859-1 on my source server where i m making the build.

Environment Solaris 5.8 OD 6.0 Base OD 6.0.1 reciever.

Please if some body know this problem or tell me this is not OD issue something else

Regards,
A

From my experience its very unlikely that this is an OD issue.
Have you verified if you war file is created with correct french characters before deploying ?
Whenever this happens again, investigate the war files in source and target to see if they have the correct characters that you need. (I assume you have a reliable way of finding that out)

... I have set LANG=en_US.ISO8859-1 on my source server ... -

Is that the env variable you set ? or something else ? Where are you setting this ? In your shell ? script ?
How are you running the script that generates the war file ? Manually from shell ? as DNR script ?
Sender and Receiver are both Solaris 8 ?

I am setting this variable in my root profile file in etc folder

export LANG="en_US.ISO8859-1";

and another thing if I applied this variable in a root profile then my dnr script which is also a perl script causes the problem for eg. i have 2 tasks one is
1.ant command
2. iwodstart deploytostaging

ant needs to run first and complete then the second command should run but both command run simaltaneously and second command doesn't wait that first command will finish. It only happens which I enable the LANG variable in root profile because I am running all script as root.and If I disable the LANG, dnr script works fine.

Post the relevant portions of your script(s) [or better yet entire script] which invokes your ant command and iwodstart command along with any log(s) or STDOUT.

It is unclear from your post if you have a script that invokes the ant command then the iwodstart command or you are (somehow) invoking deployment which has a DNR script and the DNR script invokes the ant command. Or perhaps some other combination which I am not able to understand.

I just back to my previous question still I am having a same problem If i pull the code from linux machine where od rever 6.0.1 installed into solaris machine 5.8 where od base 6.0 installed through reverse deployment causing a french character problem which is not displayed correctly.

for eg. Nintend's and it becomes Nintend\222s and I couldn't resolve this issue and I sent the LANG="en_US.ISO-8859-1" in my profile to apply this locale setting and apart of this I performed some thest that I have a sample of file on windows which looks ok on windows and I ftp that file from windows to linux in both mode ascii and binary one by one it change in the file on linux like that

Nintend's becomes Nintend<92>s

and then I simple ftp from linux to solaris and looked at the file on linux it becomes to \222 like

Nintend\222s ...so as for my understanding it's not opendeploy issue if somebody knows this problem plz share your ideas.
