OpenDeploy 6.0 sender to OD 5.6 SP1 issues

Hi

We are on OD 5.6 SP1 (on Solaris 8) on our sender and on all receivers. We are planning to upgrade only the sender to OD 6.0. Has anyone with similar versions noticed any issues with edition deployments, filelist deployments and opendeploy reporting in this combination, with sender OD 6.0 and receiver OD 5.6 SP1. I appreciate if anyone can share their expereinces on how stable and reliable OD 6.0 is.

I saw in some posting that filelist deployments from OD 6.0 sender to OD 5.6 receiver have issues. Is there a released patch for this.

I believe the patch for down-rev filelist deployment is available from Tech Support as "pre-release", which means it hasn't yet gone through formal QA.

You might check with Tech Support on when the formally released patch will be available. I think it's in the queue behind getting OD 6.0.1 out the door, which is very close to being done.

Yes, my understanding is that only file list deployments from 6.0 to 5.6 are affected.

Yes we are experiencing this issue now. We upgraded our sender to 6.0 a couple weeks ago and all our filelist deployments started failing. We ended up upgrading all our solaris receivers to 6.0 as well. We are now waiting on the patch (Bug 56481) for our AIX receivers. The patch is on top of 5.6 sp1.

The fix has to be applied to the 5.6 targets, regardless of whether you have an OD 6.0 or 6.0.1 sender. A pre-QA patch is available from Tech Support. I'm told the formal patch is being tested this week.

We recently installed OD 6.0.2 on our Dev server and we tried a file-based deployment to our QA and Prod servers that are on OD 5.6SP1.

We received the same "begin out of phase" errors. From the previous posts, it looks like there was a patch to be released after OD 6.0.1 that was supposed to fix the issue.

Was the patch included in 6.0.2? If so, why are we seeing the same error? I see there is a patch for 6.0.2. Does the patch take care of this issue?

There is a patch for 5.6 OD Patch ID 1520. That needs to be installed on the
receiver to properly talk to 6.X OD servers.
