Host entry for odnodes
John742
Currently we have three servers (test,QA,Prod) and during the process of upgrading to 6.5, we are making standardizations to all of our files. For now I would like Teamsite to manage my config files. Specifically (for now) Open Deploy's odnodes. In order to do this I would want this file to be identical in qa,test,and prod. Each of our servers deploys to itself so I wanted to make general entries that would work for the server the file was on. This was my idea but I am having problems.
OD nodes entry:
<nodeSet name="od receiver nodes">
<node name="localserver"
host="localhost"
port="20014"
/>
.xml files entries:
<deploymentConfiguration>
<localNode host="localhost"/>
<replicationFarmSet>
<replicationFarm name="MYFARMNAME">
<nodeRef useNode="localserver"/>
</replicationFarm>
</replicationFarmSet>
Open Deploy is able to resolve (<localNode host="localhost"/>) localhost to the local box all ok, but it does not like resolving localhost when it matches localserver in the odnodes file. If I replace the host value (localhost) in odnodes with the actual server name all is ok. Leaving "localhost" in odnodes the deployment completes with errors and this is the error in the micro log:

**It seems it just refuses to resolve localhost in the odnodes file, but will resolve server name or ip address?????

Did you restart the OD service(s) after changing the odnodes.xml file ?
Can you make a connection using "telnet localhost 20014" (or which ever port you are using)
Adam Stoller
Try using 127.0.0.1 instead of "localhost" for the 'host' entry in the odnodes.xml file - and see if that works.

I did restart the services. If I replace:
<node name="localserver"
host="localhost"
port="20014"
/>
WITH:
<node name="localserver"
host="ACTUALSERVERNAME"
port="20014"
/>
ALL is ok. Why doesn't Open Deploy like "locahost" as a host value, but allows it in the xml config( <localNode host="localhost"/>)???

Tried that with no luck. Also tried to fully qualify locahost and it did not work. Seems very odd it resolves it in one location and not the other. Thanks for the help!!
