partition drive containing content store

environment: W2K + TeamSite 6.1 SP1

We are considering adding a backing store to our current Development box which already has branches on it.
Since there is no drive available, i was wondering if i could partition the existing drive
containing the iw-store since that drive has plenty of space available.

Would this work?
-> Stop IW services (make them manual) and IIS.
-> Partition the drive.
-> Reboot
-> Add the additional store by running iwstoreadm -a

Would appreciate any help\advice.

I suggest you contact support - (a) to verify that you have a license for using MultiStore if you aren't sure you do, (b) to have them verify your ideas with Engineering before you go down a path fraught with danger.

a) we do have a license and this is not an issue in production.
b) this is a separate test box, so it is low risk.

i was wondering if anyone had done a similar thing. I guess i will contact support.

I suggest you contact Interwoven support to verify that you have a license to use Multistore.
You can create upto 8 backing store and It shd work if you are using 5.6 or above.
but you can not partion the existing iwstore, i think.
