Installing TS 6.5

bturns

Solaris 8

I'm going to install TS 6.5 today. Has anyone performed the installation yet? Anyone have any comments, anecdotes, caveats, before I get started.

Really looking forward to this next release.......

Thanks,

Brian

first question i've got on this install is:

How do we determine how much DB space we need when installing the new TeamSite Reporting module. I can't see anything in the documentation which gives a formula for determining space required for TeamSite Reporting.

anyone.......?

smenon

The TeamSite reporting database only stores event information, file properties and EAs. We do not store content and so you will need much less space than your backing store. We don't have a good formula for you to use (at least not at this time). Storage requirements would be dependent on how active your system is (because that translates to higher volume of event information) and also how many files and EAs you have in your repository. A safe assumption would be to start with about 10-20% of your store size and then let it grow from there. Since the reporting information is based on event publishing, it is only going to start capturing information going forward after the installation of 6.5 reporting as and when events are published. It will take you a while to grow your database to any significant size unless you are actively publishing events on all your branches and workareas.

Quick question on reporting...

Is there any licensing considerations for crystal reports.. is it part of the OEM for reporting or is it an external piece like the RDBMS?

John Cuiuli

On the 6.5 webcast last week Bill Hustad said the Crystal pieces ship with TS6.5. One version of crystal reports, and the enterprise Crystal software as well

At our last User Group, Kevin Cochrane told us that although Crystal ships with the Reporting piece, you still need to purchase per-user licenses from Crystal for every user who will be using the Reporting piece. Something to consider....

Thanks. That's what I was in doubt about - the number of desktop licenses.

It's so cool being in this part of the world now - I don't have to wait for a whole day to get a response now! Smiley Happy

Report Center ships with all the needed software and 1 developer license and 3 user licenses. Any further licenses will need to be purchased. Bill

Has anybody successfully upgraded to TS6.5 from TS6.1, I couldn't bring up the TeamSite login screen after I upgraded to 6.5. The following error message showed up and any help is appreciated.

It seems like it is looking for the Config Manager.rules file in the following directory

/iwhome/iw-home/servletd/work/Catalina/localhost/iw-cc/loade/com/interwoven/ui/base/config/

The two iw-home directories seems a little suspicious to me.. Do you really have TeamSite installed at /iw-home/iw-home or should it be at /iw-home? Did you install 6.5 on top of your existing 6.1 install? What do you get if you run 'iwgethome'? Does it return the expected TeamSite home directory?

Sunil,

Any idea on this servlet error? This is a TS 6.1 to 6.5 Win2k installation.

Is it possible to install Teamsite on so called non-server windows OS.
I wanted to install it on Windows XP Home. I know it is not a supported platform by Interwoven, But has anybody tried it to do for development purposes

You can't install TeamSite on Windows XP Home. You might want to look into VPC.

Migrateduser

This is the Same issue which my team also faced when they installed Teamsite 6.5 on Teamsite 6.1. I second sunils suggestion try 'iwgethome' and check the teamsite home directory. As a solution we did a fresh installation of TS6.5 and then Migrated the Contents and Workflow from TS6.1 to TS6.5
