library manager
peter_choe
i have been using the library manager to add some users. in the drop down box Class where i am suppose to select the type of class i want to create, i notice that there is no Organization. i was able to write a program to add one, but why isn't it an option in the library manager? is there something that needs to be configured to allow Organization as an option?

Organization how? I use OU's (organization units) to sort out my "groups" and Groups to combine users from different OU's into common workgroups. I do as little of this as possible on the backend preferring to handle most of my security container needs on the frontend via pre-built templates and forcing the workspace creator to take ownership of their space during the creation stage.
i.e.
1) create space
2) add members
3) create workgroups, add members
4) create security policies add workgroups.
I like to also reinforce that less is more, that one or two workgroups coupled with a deny is far easier to manage for a security policy that having 30 iterations of workgroups trying to pick up all potential groupings.

well...
what i was doing was that i was doing a search based on DIT_CLASS property to find the organizational units to add new trustees.
for example:
+realm
|
+--domain - mydomain
|
+--organization - Foo, Inc
| |
| +--organization unit - Accounting
| | |
| | +--person - A
| |
| +--organization unit - Marketing
|
+--organization - Bar, Inc.
|
+-- organizational unit - Accounting
so, i want to be able to search for everyone in the Foo, Inc organization in the Account unit. i was doing the search by the DIT_CLASS property. workgroup doesn't have a DIT_CLASS property for me to search. i am using the WOM SDK to do this.
i found it strange the programmatically, the WOM SDK provides a way to create an organization class, but it is not available in the Library Manager.
