Page 90 of the 6.5 admin manual describes how to interpret EA's as date fields.

We have dates using the short month notation - EG 1-Oct-04

The manual seems to desribe the month notation in only numeric form (M)
Are we able to set the format string using short month?

It should work with different date formats like dd MMM yyyy hh:mm AM/PM which is relevant to your case. Make sure that the appropriate formatString element in FieldMapping.xml is also in the same format as the one that you have saved your EAs in.

Thanks, after playing around with it, I figured it out.

It would be a good idea to clearly outline the various patterns in the document (EG MMM being short month) or refer to some standard if that is what this is.
