iwsrchagent ?

I found this command in my Search/bin directory, but haven't seen any documentation for it.
In an effort to debug/understand searchin I tried to run the command and it bombed out.

Below is the message; it complains about .so file and it's details are below.

1. do I need to worry about this CLT?..
2. does this error message lead to anything... could this possibly be related to other issues regarding search?

A shot in the dark -
Append to path libvdk30.so to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH env variable and try to run ./iwsrchagent

this is what I got...


bash-2.03# export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/app/teamsite/Search/verity/vdk/_ssol26/bin 
bash-2.03# ./iwsrchagent
log4cplus:ERROR No appenders could be found for logger (CAgentWorker).
log4cplus:ERROR Please initialize the log4cplus system properly.

so at least this time it ran.

my LD_LIBRARY_PATH was empty ( su as root)

Now I just need to try and find out if this means anything.... search isn't working and I'm having trouble tracing what's going on... maybe it is an environment setting.

another shot in the dark: is there a profile modification you need ?

For metatager you:
cd <MT-HOME>/conf

. ./env-metatagger.sh

that sets your path, LD_LIBRARY_PATH (linker load library path, where Solaris looks for dynamically linked
libraries), and DB_HOME

Note that is KSH formatted. Bash is a c-shell that acts like ksh (why one would use a ksh-wannabee when they can
use the real thing I will never know, but you are Aussie)

there may be a file something like env-search.sh (search for "env*.sh" in iw-home)

Using ksh -o vi does it for me

it does if you are smart enough to use it.

when in vi mode:

set -o vi
esc - (escape key then minus) brings up the last command
then you are in vi mode
you can do vi search then /iwfsck
(search for last command that had iwfsck in it
esc\ (escape backslash) is file completion
esc= (escape equals) shows you the list of possible file completion

You can also use emacs mode, but I would hate to start a religous war.

But there are slight differences & the differences will matter in certain cases. For MetaTagger I do not know if the
script IW provides will work with bash (it will not work with csh). Also I filed a bug in 6.1 that if iwui user has csh as
its shell, TS GUI will not start. This is due to some of the scripting in iw-home/private/bin/iwuiboot and iwopenapiboot.
Since bash is a mix of both I do not know if that will work or not.

Back to your error -
Isn't that the command that starts the search agnet ?

Try starting it with somethign like "./iwsrchagent indexagent_1 index_agent"

Whats your log settings in search.properties ? I think theres a bunch of them. You migth want to try enabling logs (=true I think) for all of them (just for kicks) and run your majic command again.

DISCLAIMER : Its a shot in the dark. Don't have access to a Solaris box right now. Ugh.
