Migrating TeamSite 5.5.2 to Teamsite 6.1
ijpn
Hello,
I am planning to perform the following process. bang me if i am wrong!
migrating from TS 5.5.2 (oldest SP(1?))/ OD 5.6 - windows 2000 machine to Windows 2003 server.
1. Installing TS 6.1SP1 on the W2003
2.Intsall OD 6.0 on the W2003
3. Copy "5.5.2 iwstore" to W2003 (Say overwrite)
(I cannot use iwmigrate because w2003 is not in the network.)
4.Copy .Gid files (and modiy the domain etc.)
(Not planning to use iwidmap)
5. copy and modify the templating.cfg and othe CFGs if required
6. Copy all the scripts to the new machine
7. copy OD5.6 cfg,XML to respective from OD 5.6 to Od 6.0
8. Restart the services
Thinking of migrating EA also.
Please tell me where i am going wrong with correct steps.
PS: The new w2003 machine cannot be connected to the the old Team Site machine
Thanks in Advance,
ijpn

Step 4 is Uid not Gid files.
The old backing store will contain references to SID's for the users and groups. If you were using domain accounts rather than local disk accounts - and your new server will be able to communicate with the same domains - you should be okay for everything except Administrator (and perhaps SYSTEM?) - regardless of whether you want to - you will almost definitely have to use iwidmap. (the only way around this is to *not* bring over the backing store - but to just bring over a copy of the staging area(s) and re-create the entire branching structure, etc. by hand - and then you do need to bring over the EA's manually - wheras if you bring over the backing store the EA's come with it).
* I'm not sure I undertand the network thing - if there's no network, then there's no domain connectivity and all users will be local users. If that's the case you will have to do a *lot* of iwidmap work to translate all the old local and domain users & groups into new local users & groups.
You'll probably have to play around with any pre-existing custom CGI scripts to either use the wdpro_menu.ipl wrapper when you call the scripts *or* to re-write the scripts to use the different form variables that are present.

Thanks Ghoti
(Liked your style of reply, Owo! that's why your only one of " 2nd Life - Sapphire" in this Group)
First I will tell you ,why i want to do like the above steps .
1. InterWoven TS55.2 Sp1 does not support direct upgrade to Ts 6.1SP1. (As per Internal Documents from Interwoven)
so i am planning to check the above steps will work or not.
is any one tried the direct upgrade from TS5.5.2sp1 to TS 6.1 SP1?
2. The 2003 machine will be connected to the network before everything of TS 5.5.2sp1 works well
