CCStd Wizards

Ottawa_IWOV

Hi All-

I am looking at customizing a Content Center Standard Wizard. I know you can remove the tagging step no problem. Can you removed the annoying "Submission Succeeded" (which is very confusing to casual users) page that asks to save the file as a favorite.

This is not desired, and should be configurable. I mean CCStd was a move to please some of IWOV's best customers, but is a very hit-or-miss UI. With a little more control over the wizards it could be MUCH better

ALSO - is there a CCI URL for the Copy To function? I know move can be accessed with: /iw-cc/move.

Is there something similar for Copy To?

Thanks,

well, I also cannot stop repeating that Wizards HAD to come with customizable features. AFAIK, you cannot customize anything but the tagging step (and BTW, this is also done in an awkward manner, I would want to have a rule that is based on extended attributes, rather than on file extensions).

Lucas, nope - no way to remove it. We also find this horribly annoying. It's also impossible to turn off the attach to an existing workflow option, which can cause big problems for you if you have any tasks before the first usertask or grouptask (e.g. a cgitask for tagging), which will be skipped when you do the attach (that's been my experience, anyway).

Part of me hopes that 6.5 will make CCSTD more customizable, but I doubt it. I guess I'll find out in 2 hours and 45 minutes.

The release notes don't indicate anything new for wizard customization in 6.5. I had always thought this was an important feature ever since the 6.0 release and it seemed like this would of been in this release. Guess not. Looks like more JSP hacking for me.

According to the webcast, the only UI enhancements are the addition of the Reports tab (if you pay for it), the Administration tab (you don't have to go to a separate url anymore), and the ability in CCSTD for a user to choose to limit the list of workareas shown if they have a large number available to them.

It looks like we get to continue to enjoy this feature for at least another six months.

We did remove add to the favourite step from the workflow wizard. It is possible that it is not a supported step though...

Might you be ab le to provide a little more colour on how you removed this step?

at TS 6 launch I was told that Wizard customisations would come in 6.5. probably, so many bugs in 6 that all Engineering is fixing them, and they have no resources to expose the customisation API......

Lucas:

Unfortunately with TeamSite versions 6.0, 6.1, and 6.5, that is the extent to which the wizards can be customized.

We are in process of implementing an updated UIToolkit. As part of this update, we are looking to enable fully customizable
wizards. We hear the requirement loud and clear. We look to release sometime in 2005 with a next major update to TeamSite.

In the meantime, TeamSite 6.5 is shipping with a GREAT new search capability. Can solve your specific pain, but hopefully take
away another? ;-)

Hi Kevin,

my current client who you know and a lots of others have decided to severly limit the accessibility of CC STD, firstly because of the performance issues, and second, due to lack of flexibility of the wizard.

In one of our implementations the users submit just DCRs and yet they are given a tagging step, which I want to preserve for other file types. But because DCR does not have to have an extension, there is no a robust way to achieve what I need. I the end, I am afraid we'll have to take the tagging step from the Wizard altogether, which basically defeats the purpose to have the Wizard.

so, the requirement is much urgent and I hope this could be achieved before TS 7.

Hm.. I think it was you who told me about Wizard customisations to come in 6.5.. during the launch in Sydney..

I know how to do this Lucas.

Based on all of your feedback, in TS 6.5 SP2, you now have the ability to turn off the wizard completely by skipping the submit step in the wizard. Just like you could skip the tag step in the wizard, you can now skip the submit step which should basically turn off the wizard.. Please check the Supplement to TS 6.5 SP2 and the 6.5 SP2 release notes for more information..

thanks

Hi L,

If you're still interested in removing the annoying "Add to Fav's"/Submission succeeded step, I have figured it out. They wanted me to do the same thing for them. It requires a JSP hack and a recompile. Let me know and I'll attach the modified file for you and all you'll have to do is a quick recompile of the toolkit and "poof" it will be gone.

Jamik

yeah i've done that as well. it's not too difficult once you know where all the jars are at and what file to change. I really hope they work on a configuarable wizard for future releases.

Can you share your solutions here, I am really needing it right now. Thanks a lot.

Dmitry

Is there a way to force the tagging in some workflows/branches but not in others?

I saw the manual which suggested filtering based on file extensions, but I would like to filter by branch instead..

If the answer is no, can you guys walk me through the process of adding a tagging step manually to the workflow? I am using the WFConstructor perl module.

Thanks!

Awesome thanks a lot! I'll give that a try Mon.
