continuing the workflow when external task fails
infoForDj
Hi,
In a workflow, if an external task like email fails and is completed manually, is there a way to continue the workflow from the task after the email external task.
Thanks,
Dhruv

Something like this can be run from the command line:
<script_name>.ipl <jobid> <taskid> <workarea_path> <relative_path_to_file1> <relative_path_to_file2>
Below is an actual example - all code would be written on one line.
C:\iw-home\local\bin\wyeth\mywyeth_emea_global>submitandunlock.ipl 853 859 \default\main\mywyeth_uk\WORKAREA\uk_wa templatedata\category\news\data\corporate\new_20041027_0.dcr
Hope that helps.
Dwayne
Actually, I don't think this quite answers the question. What you've described will re-execute the code of the external task, while the request was to continue execution
after
the external task, on the assumption that the functionality implemented by the external task was handled manually.
It's very simple to do, provided you can get a command shell on the server. just issue the command
iwcallback
taskid
0
where
taskid
is the taskID of the failed external task. The
0
means to take the first
<successorset>
, which is normally what you want. Change to 1, 2, whatever, to get other
<successorset>

Ah yes, Good point Dwayne. If he did what I suggested he would simply re-run the faulty external task.
The callback would be the correct option.
